Kenneth Boone
Kenneth S. Boone, 50, is an award-winning third-generation journalist and chairman of Tallapoosa Publishers, Inc., in Alexander City, Alabama. He is publisher of two newspapers, The Alexander City Outlook and The Dadeville Record, as well as Lake magazine on Lake Martin. Boone is a passionate photographer and also works as a commercial photographer.
He is the winner of the Alabama Press Association’s 1993 Photo of the Year award and has won more than 50 Alabama and Mississippi Press Association awards for photography, writing, advertising and design.
Boone has enjoyed a multifaceted media career that includes working as a USAID newspaper consultant in Bosnia, teaching photography to newspaper professionals and at Central Alabama Community College, hosting a medical television show in Alexander City, working as publisher of The Natchez (Miss.) Democrat and editing The Selma Times-Journal. Early in his working life, Boone worked as a commercial diver and scuba diving instructor.
In 1998-99, Boone circumnavigated the globe during a year-long adventure with his wife and three young children. The family visited 27 countries and went on an African walking safari, trekked in Nepal, dove the Great Barrier Reef, explored the Amazon rainforest, sailed the Galapagos Islands, peered into Ramses’ tomb in Egypt and walked the stations of the cross in Jerusalem … while home-schooling the children.
Boone and his wife, Mary Lyman, have three children: Christopher, 23, Riley Frances, 20, and James, 19.
Sawyer Davis
Sawyer Davis grew up on Lake Martin behind a boat and now spends his days as a realtor specializing in lake property. He’s worked with several rider-owned companies in the wake industry since 2006 and often hosts groups of pro and advanced riders who visit Lake Martin. Henry Foy
As the owner of Cellar On Main in downtown Alexander City, wine columnist Henry Foy spends his days surrounded by wine. Julie Hudson
Julie Hudson serves as Lake’s food and fitness columnist.
The Chicago native received a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from the University of Alabama. Beginning in 1998, Julie, her husband Wes, and their three children (Wesley, Alexandra and Grant) traveled around the U.S. with the Army before settling in Alexander City, where Wes works as a nurse anesthetist at Russell Medical Center.
During her travels around the country, Julie has worked as a dietician in hospitals, long-term care facilities and the Head Start program. Her latest professional endeavor was teaching nutrition to high school students online.

Greg Vinson
Fishing columnist Greg Vinson is a Bassmaster Elite Series pro from Wetumpka, who considers Lake Martin his home lake.
Greg has a wife, Stephanie, as well as two dogs, Skeet and Cassie. He was an NAIA All-American pitcher and graduated with a degree in Environmental Sciences from Auburn University Montgomery in 2000. Greg worked as an environmental scientist until he realized he could make a run as a professional angler.
Greg has been featured in “The Bassmaster Elite Series” on ESPN2, Bassmaster.com, and Bassmaster Magazine. He is also co-host of Sportzblitz Outdoors on ACN. Greg is currently ranked in the top 50 of the Bassfan.com world rankings of professional anglers.
Recent highlights from Greg’s career include:
- 2010 Bassmaster Elite Series: 13th Place, California Delta and top 30 finishes at Clear Lake, California; Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia; and Pickwick Lake, Alabama
- 2009 Bassmaster Elite Series: 11th Place, Lake Dardanelle; 4th Place, Rookie of the Year Standings
- 2008 BASS Southern Opens: 2nd place, Lake Guntersville; 5th Place Overall Standings.
Lee Williams
Lee Williams is one of America’s finest up-and-coming professional golfers. A former All-American at Auburn University and a two-time member of the U.S. Walker Cup team, Williams is in his fourth year as a professional golfer and his second year on the Nationwide Tour. He is currently playing the eGolf Tour and the Hooters Tour and has played in the U.S. Open three times.
The Alexander City native thrived on the mini-tours in 2006, winning more than $150,000 on the U.S. Pro Golf Tour, including first-place finishes at the Tour’s first two events. In his one PGA Tour event of 2006, Williams tied for 40th at the U.S. Open at Winged Foot, finishing ahead of notables Tiger Woods, Fred Couples, and Sergio Garcia.
Williams’ sponsors include Russell Lands, Cleveland Golf, Titleist and King Honda.
