The chill of autumn weather falls over me, so I hurry inside with the bags. I receive a warm welcome as I walk in. Around me, place cards and expensive china are set up for tomorrow’s feast.

The goats are back!

We learned five years ago about Goat Island on Lake Martin. “Yes, there are real goats on the island,” we were told by several of our new neighbors. This large island is located close to the Lake Martin Dam and is frequented by many boaters on the lake.

A Slice of Heaven

Many years ago a boy and a girl, Rich and Jeanne Lubben met in their hometown, went to school and church together and enjoyed many of the same things. During the school breaks in the summer they traveled between cottages that their parents owned on lakes in New England. Rich’s folks had a small one room cabin near Otis Reservoir in Otis, Mass. Enjoying the lake life they both knew that someday they wanted to live by a lake.
